The Bread of Life: Finding True Nourishment in Jesus

February 2, 2025

Series: Truly

Book: John

This sermon explores John 6:25-40, where Jesus declares Himself as the Bread of Life. After miraculously feeding the 5,000, the crowd seeks Him—not for spiritual truth, but for more food. Jesus redirects them, urging them to seek the nourishment that leads to eternal life rather than perishable sustenance (John 6:27).

Referencing Exodus 16:4-15, the sermon highlights how God provided manna in the wilderness, but Jesus offers something greater—Himself as the true Bread from Heaven. Unlike worldly pursuits that never fully satisfy (Ecclesiastes 5:10, Isaiah 55:2), Jesus alone fulfills the deepest hunger of the soul (Psalm 107:9, Matthew 4:4).

Believers are called to trust in Jesus for true life and to share His nourishment with others. Just as communion reminds the Church of Christ’s sustaining presence, daily reliance on Him transforms hearts and equips disciples to do His work.
