In this sermon, we explored the gospel’s power to shape our relationships, focusing on the letter Paul wrote to Philemon. We were reminded that Paul and Philemon’s relationship was built on mutual love, joy, and growth through their shared faith in Jesus. Paul urged Philemon to reconcile with his runaway slave Onesimus, now a believer, not as a slave but as a brother, demonstrating how the gospel transforms relationships into opportunities for mutual transformation. The sermon challenged us to see how our own relationships can be places where we embody Christ’s love and joy. We were encouraged to view our connections with others as opportunities for growth, to share love generously, and to be open to transformation ourselves. In closing, we were invited to consider how we might be fully alive and fully connected with God through the relationships in our lives.
