In “Lost & Found: Lost Son Part 1,” Pastor Daniel emphasized that the parable of the lost son is ultimately a story about the extravagant love of the father. He explained that the younger son’s demand for his inheritance was a shocking rejection of his father, family, and community, yet the father allowed him the freedom to leave, illustrating how God permits people to reject His love while still experiencing His grace. After wasting everything and reaching the lowest point of his life, the son finally “came to himself,” recognizing both his sin against God and the hurt he had caused others. But before the son could earn forgiveness or complete his rehearsed apology, the father ran to meet him, embraced him, and publicly restored him as a beloved son. Pastor Daniel noted that this story speaks to the deep relational pain everyone experiences and the fear of being unloved, while reminding us that no one is unlovable in God’s eyes. Jesus told this parable to reveal a Father who relentlessly pursues the lost, welcomes them home, and offers grace, forgiveness, and restoration long before they deserve it.
