In this sermon, we explored Psalm 121, a “Psalm of Ascent,” which pilgrims would sing on their journey to Jerusalem. The psalmist asks, “Where will my help come from?” and answers confidently that help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. The sermon highlighted how, in modern times, we often rely on our resources and comforts, leading us to forget our need for God’s help. Unlike the ancient people who were more aware of their dependence on God, we sometimes overlook our vulnerability. The psalm reminds us that despite our perceived control, real help and protection come from God alone. As we journey through life, we can trust that God, who never slumbers, is our ultimate source of strength and refuge.
