Do Not Be Afraid: The Hope of the Resurrection

April 20, 2025

Book: Matthew

This Easter sermon from Matthew 28 explores how the resurrection of Jesus radically transforms our relationship with fear. In a world constantly telling us to “be afraid,” both through media and life’s real hardships, the risen Christ offers a different word: “Do not be afraid.” The angel at the tomb and Jesus himself both speak these words, not because life is suddenly free of difficulty, but because fear is now redefined by the power of the resurrection. Death—the ultimate fear—has been defeated. Whatever we face, we stand on the firm foundation of Christ’s victory over the grave. This message invites us to live with courage and hope, knowing the risen Jesus is always with us.
